The

REINVENTING ROLE MODELS Project

The first part of the Project is

The

Youth Camp

During a 5-day-long Youth Camp we engage in various workshops and activities, based around the importance of role models, modern values and overcoming stereotypes. We aim to hone our powers of critical thinking and find alternative ways of looking at contemporary issues. We discuss and reconsider, read, paint and write.

This way the Youth Camp combines learning and creating in a way that allows the kids to work towards a common goal, leading us to the second part of the project…

The second part of the Project is

THE

EXHIBITION

During the Exhibition, the children have a chance to present their creations and experiences, sharing their work with the local community.

While the Exhibition illustrates the results of the kids’ work, it also offers a space for dialogue about relevant social issues of importance to the community. This exchange can take place in the  form of panel discussions, open debates, or question-and-answer sessions involving the community and those involved directly in the project.

The project was implemented first as a

PILOT PROJECT IN RUSE (BULGARIA)

The first incarnation of our project took place in Ruse, Bulgaria. We brought together eight children, ranging in age from 10 to 12, as well as a professor of psychology, a local artist, a local writer, two student assistants, and the children’s author Ben Brooks.

Together we discussed, reconsidered and created. Finally, we presented our results in an exhibition, which was complemented by a panel discussion on the topic of alternative cultural educational projects.
